About Us

WHO WE ARE

The Greg Gatz Memorial Foundation, a DBA of Hill Country Margarita Society, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting children and families throughout the Highland Lakes. Our work is rooted in two long‑standing community traditions originally created by the Hill Country Margarita Society.

What began as a simple act of generosity has grown into a year‑round commitment to uplifting families, expanding opportunities for children, and strengthening our community through compassion and service.

OUR HISTORY

Toddies for Tots (Established 2003)

A festive holiday celebration made possible by community sponsors, where guests donate toys for Highland Lakes Christmas is for Kids and later expanded to Granite Shoals Christmas Outreach. What began as a simple way to give back has become a cherished annual tradition, bringing joy to children and families throughout the Highland Lakes.

Greg Gatz Memorial Golf Tournament (Established 2011)

Created in honor of our dear friend Greg Gatz, this annual tournament raises funds to “adopt” families during the holiday season. Schools, churches, and community organizations help identify children and families in need, allowing us to provide gifts, clothing, and essentials to make their Christmas a little brighter.

Becoming a Nonprofit (2024)

In 2024, these two beloved traditions were officially united under Hill Country Margarita Society, establishing a nonprofit organization that would allow us to grow our impact beyond these two annual events. This milestone enables us to expand our mission far beyond the holiday season.

Greg Gatz Memorial Foundation (2026)

In 2026, Greg Gatz Memorial Foundation was established as a DBA of Hill Country Margarita Society, giving our organization a name that honors Greg’s legacy and more fully reflects the work we do throughout the Highland Lakes community.

What began with 10 sponsors giving $100 each to support the event has grown into a community-wide effort raising over $42,000 annually.

OUR MISSION

We are committed to supporting children and families in the Highland Lakes through community‑driven generosity. By partnering with local organizations, schools, churches, and donors, we work to ensure that families facing hardship receive meaningful support, essential resources, and opportunities for a brighter future.

OUR VISION

The Greg Gatz Memorial Foundation is committed to expand our reach and impact each year. We aim to create more opportunities for children, support more families, and build a stronger, more connected Highland Lakes community — one act of kindness at a time.

THANK YOU

To our sponsors, donors, volunteers, and friends — thank you for helping us carry forward Greg’s legacy of generosity. Together, we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of families across the Hill Country.
